From heraldic painter to war artist, Karen’s diverse career spans four decades. An appointed war artist in Afghanistan and official portrait painter of the Right Honourable Michaëlle Jean, her emphasis is on themes of service and community. As a visual storyteller, many of Karen’s paintings focus on behind-the-scenes workers and under-recognized people, most recently The Last Stable in Lowertown: Cundell Stables and Portraits of The Ottawa Mission.
