In 1997 I set myself the task of painting portraits from life of several of the staff and one familiar patron (Robert Armstrong) from Memories Cafe, Ottawa, culminating in an exhibition at Memories. The subjects for these paintings willingly came to my apartment to sit for three sessions, two hours each time.
